Come and see why we have been established in the Illawarra for 47 years.
Three of my children have attended TKD with Instructor Paul in Thirroul, starting when they were 6yo, 11yo and 12yo. All three of them have benefited in all sorts of expected and unexpected ways. They all enjoyed and looked forward to going each week - this is perhaps most important! Paul seemed to provide just the right amount of structure and fun so that they each learnt their patterns while enjoying the social contact with peers and being respectful towards the learnings and each other. My older girls were given more responsibility as they progressed from white belt up towards black belt, and these responsibilities gave them confidence in other areas of their lives. My eldest daughter who is now 20 and living overseas still counts earning her black belt as a major life achievement, and a marker for self-belief when faced with life's challenges. As a father of 2 girls, I'm so pleased that each of them has developed an inner confidence in how to defend themselves if needed. I'm also aware of all the wider benefits in mindful movement of our bodies, and am so pleased that my children had this opportunity. Sign up, try it out, and then support your children to get past the early frustrations as they learn these lifelong skills!
Rhee Taekwon-Do is a fantastic place to send your kids , it teaches them respect, discipline and health & fitness . My daughter has been going there for a couple of years now and loves it ! Instructor Paul is a great teacher for both children and adults . Highly recommended.
“Rhee Taekwon-Do in Thirroul is an excellent extracurricular activity option for children of all ages and abilities. Since joining the Thirroul Dojo, my son has learnt physical and mental skills that help him practise discipline, self-awareness and respect in everyday life. He also has lots of fun! With Instructor Paul’s guidance and support, he was awarded his junior black belt in late 2015 and now has the opportunity to help mentor younger students. Last year, my daughter also joined the Thirroul Dojo and is really enjoying practising self defence and improving her fitness. She is also learning valuable life skills through Taekwon-Do and hopefully one day she will follow in her brother’s footsteps and earn her junior black belt. In addition to twice-weekly classes, the kids also enjoy combined training classes with other Dojos, Action Days with Master Rhee and Family Days that encourage the whole family to try Tae Kwon Do together. If you’re looking for an activity that suits children of all abilities and ages, I highly recommend Rhee Taekwon-Do in Thirroul.
